Assembling the Researchers
- Though a lot of the school's students are familiar with technology, only a small percentage of the students work on anything besides Facebook, Friendster, Myspace, etc. A team of the most awesome students were assembled, each taking (/hyperbole) rigorous, painful training to be proficient on what they do... As soon as the Team Leader was informed he set out on a journey to find the school's best researchers and IT enthusiasts. This endeavor took him a long time (24 hours) to accomplish, and at the end, he had 4 researchers, one of which was also an assistant webmaster. The team worked on and off each week, as the schedule of the DPSA activities coincided with that of the DISA (Division Integrated Student Activities) and the RISA (Region Integrated Student Activities). The team roster is as follows:
Robert Roy Immanuel S. Bat-og (IV-Obedient) - Webmaster
Keren Praise Vedra (II-Compassionate) - Researcher/Asst. Webmaster
Paul John Ang (III-Devoted) - Researcher/Artist
Joey E. Cuizon (I-Punctual) - Researcher
Mabel Mae Anne Eguia (I-Punctual) - Researcher
Mrs. Ruth L. Muego - Coach
Mrs. Zarah V. Micu - Coach
Mrs. Rita S. Reyes - Supervisor
- After the familiarities of the team, they immediately got to work. At first, they just visualized how the Video Blog would look and feel like. They went to the DPSA website and based ideas off the past winners, as well as contributing their own unique input. Soon after, they decided on what their project title would be. Then they decided on what the visuals of the blog would look, and how it would be lay-outed. They decided that since their project is about figurative treasure, the blog should have a golden feel to it thus siring the current design of the blog.
- Following the structurizing of the blog, the team started on to their next activity, a visit to Tinuy-an itself.
It took the team a lot of time to plan for their trip. Since Burbuoanan, the place where Tinuy-an is currently situated, was far away from the school, they needed documents that would affirm that they indeed went to Tinuy-an. After acquiring said documents, they went to Tinuy-an ASAP.
In the site, the team gathered valuable data such as flora, fauna, and also some business and money making ventures endeavored by opportunistic youth and store owners. Some of these people were interviewed and as well as some indigenous locals.
- After gathering first hand data from the site, the team started going over the internet in search for additional information regarding Tinuy-an.
Digitalizing
After the team had finished gathering data needed, they started to work on their video blog. The webmaster had to design both the video blog and the videos that they've taken, that was the easy part.
Now here comes the hard part.
The researchers needed to incorporate their data into articles and went to great lengths to write everything about the data that they have gathered. Fortunately, the coaches provided us with helpful links and software to help ease our load of work. Soon the videos, edited using Sony Vegas Platinum 10, were uploaded to youtube on the eve of the deadline. The photos were enhanced using Adobe Photoshop CS4, allowing the team to create images that knocked all the others out of the water. The team worked grueling hours and most were scolded by their parents but in the end, it was all worth it.
